Strategic partnership combines ISU Abxis’ end-to-end drug development expertise with Galux’s AI-based protein design to accelerate discovery
Galux announced its has initiated a joint research collaboration with ISU Abxis Co., Ltd. to accelerate the development of next-generation therapies for rare diseases.
Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in November last year, the two companies finalized detailed discussions and executed a definitive joint research agreement at the end of last month, officially commencing their collaboration.

The partnership brings together ISU Abxis’ extensive experience across the full drug development lifecycle—from basic research and process development to clinical trials and commercialization—with Galux’s proprietary AI-based protein design and optimization technologies. The collaboration is expected to significantly enhance development efficiency and speed in rare disease drug discovery.
ISU Abxis has established a differentiated competitive position through the successful development of rare disease therapies such as Abcertin® and Pavagal®, building deep capabilities across all stages of drug development. Galux, meanwhile, has developed a proprietary AI platform capable of highly precise protein design, and has published results demonstrating globally competitive precision and generalizability, drawing significant attention from the biopharmaceutical industry.
By combining these complementary strengths, the two companies aim to generate strong synergies in the development of novel therapies for rare diseases.
An ISU Abxis representative commented, “Through this collaboration, we expect to secure a potential new growth engine that follows Abcertin and Pavagal. By applying AI-based technologies, we aim to dramatically improve development efficiency and accelerate the creation of differentiated next-generation therapies for rare diseases.”
A Galux representative added, “Rare diseases represent areas of significant unmet medical need, where the ability to rapidly and cost-effectively generate high-quality drug candidates is critical. By combining ISU Abxis’ end-to-end drug development capabilities with Galux’s AI-driven precision protein design technology, we look forward to actively advancing this joint research and ultimately delivering more effective treatment options for patients.”
